Our
17th Birthday Celebration It all started on 16 September 1991.
Another
very successful evening — we were honoured to have as guests Justice Michael Kirby, Johan, Stevie Clayton the
CEO of ACON, Michelle Sparks, ACON’s new Community Development Manager
together with over 100 members, friends and visitors to celebrate our
17th. Although the actual anniversary
day is on 16th September, which is Steve Ostrow’s birthday — hope you had a
happy one Steve.
In
my speech to the gathering, after thanking all for their attendance, I also
thanked Steve for his idea of a group for mature gays, ACON for their support
of Steve's idea and their continued support of MAG and to all the guy who
have helped MAG be where it is today.
I also mentioned all those guys who are no longer with us for their
love, friendship and dedication to our group and I toasted all our ‘Absent
Friends’. I also pointed out that
whilst ACON supports MAG, to which we are very thankful; MAG in return
supports ACON by a number of our guys who volunteer their time to assist on
ACON’s Packing Team in packing the Safe Sex Packs and Needle Exchange Packs. A truly great partnership.
The
Sydney Star Observer sent along a lovely guy, Morgan, to record the evening in
pictures. I congratulate guys of the
Catering Committee for the magnificent
supper table spread. Thanks Erroll for
your efforts in providing all the ingredients for supper. Thank you to the guys who took the trouble
to wear BLUE on the night. I had a most enjoyable night, as tragic as I was!
